Banking services across the city were severely affected this morning as bank employees went on a one-day nationwide strike demanding fulfilment of their various demands. The strike was called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (AIBEA-AIBOC-NCBE-AIBOA-BEFI-INBEF-INBOC).

The key demands include implementation of a five-day work-week with all Saturdays off, resolution of disputes related to the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and settlement of long-pending issues concerning employee pension and wages, among others.
