Colombo, Sri Lanka, Aug. 7 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:
Thirty-five (35) transitional homes built with the able manpower contribution of the Navy were handed over to displaced families at the Unique View village in Nuwara Eliya today, 5 August 2026, following the displacement caused by the Cyclone Ditwah.
The houses were handed over during a ceremony held near the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council Grounds, presided over by the Nuwara Eliya District Secretary, Ms. Thushari Tennakoon.
The project was completed within 75 days with manpower enabled by around 100 naval personnel. It was undertaken to provide safe and dignified temporary accommodation for families affected by the disaster. Fundin...
