Colombo, Sri Lanka, Aug. 8 -- Ministry of Defence and Urban Development issued the following news release:

A progress review meeting on the protection of Sri Lanka's marine and coastal resources was held on 05 August at the Ministry of Environment to assess ongoing measures aimed at preventing environmental pollution and strengthening the protection of the country's fishery harbours and surrounding islands.

The meeting was co chaired by Hon. Minister of Environment, Dr. Dammika Patabendi, Hon. Deputy Minister of Environment Mr. Anton Jayakody, and Hon. Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd).
