New Delhi, Sept. 30 -- More than three years after ethnic violence erupted in India's northeastern border state of Manipur, thousands of people remain displaced from their homes. The numbers have fallen from the peak of the crisis, but the humanitarian problem has not disappeared. The question now is whether Manipur is moving towards genuine rehabilitation or simply managing a crisis that has become part of everyday life.

According to a State Home Department report cited by The Sangai Express, as of September 3, 2026, Manipur had 28,899 internally displaced people living in relief camps and temporary locations.
