Varanasi iftar party case: Sessions Court denies bail to 14 Muslim men
Varanasi, April 1 -- A Sessions Court on Wednesday, April 1, denied bail to 14 Muslim men, accused of eating chicken and discarding the bones during iftar on a boat along the ghats of River Ganges in Varanasi.
Their bail plea was also rejected by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate on March 23.
Judge Alok Kumar observed that posting the act on social media platforms indicated the intention to deliberately disrupt communal peace. "Posting the said video on social media prima facie proves that the said incident was committed with the objective of affecting social harmony", the Court noted in its order.
