Tehran, Aug. 28 -- Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said the United States must abandon pressure and build trust if diplomacy is to be put back on track.

In a post on X on Friday, August 28, Araghchi said he had held "creative discussions" with Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani during his visit to Tehran.

"Putting diplomacy back on track isn't impossible," Araghchi wrote, adding that this hinged on the US understanding "one simple fact: pressure doesn't work".

He said Washington should build trust, speak respectfully, acknowledge Iran's rights and uphold its commitments.
