Hyderabad, Oct. 26 -- Hyderabad Police prevented a child marriage in Old City's Kalapather and rescued a 17-year-old girl.

According to a report published in Deccan Chronicle, following a tip-off, Kalapather Sub-Inspector Shiva Kumar Reddy and Task Force Sub-Inspector Mahesh raided a premises and found the girl being married to a man identified as Arif Ali Baig.

After stopping the child marriage, Hyderabad police informed helpline officials to obtain a complaint before registering a case under the Child Marriage Act.

Cases were registered against Baig, the marriage mediator Shaheen and the girl's parents.
