Hyderabad, Aug. 17 -- New coaches are set to arrive on the Hyderabad Metro Rail network in the coming months, as the state government moves to award a manufacturing contract to an Indian company under the "Make in India" push.

According to ABN, officials at Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) have begun the process on the directions of Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, who wants a company finalised and coaches rolled out at the earliest.

The first phase of Hyderabad Metro opened in November 2017. Trains currently run on three corridors, LB Nagar-Miyapur, JBS-MGBS and Nagole-Raidurg, covering 69.2 km. Around 4.6 lakh commuters travel across 1,200 trips a day on the network, and ridership has been rising steadily.
