Hyderabad, Sept. 22 -- Two infants died in a fire that broke out at the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Adilabad late Monday night (September 21).

The infants were preterm babies aged five and four days old, Adilabad District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr Sadhana told The Hindu. One of the babies died immediately after the accident, while another succumbed four hours later.

As many as 25 newborns were evacuated, while some children were shifted to nearby private hospitals for further treatment.
