Hyerabad, Oct. 25 -- Shekar, a young man, went on a date with a woman he met on a dating app in Hyderabad. They went to a high-end restaurant in Jubilee Hills. Things were going smoothly until it was time to pay the bill - a whopping Rs 28,000/-.

The woman excused herself and vanished, alleges Shekar. he paid the bill, but he felt cheated.

He later lodged a complaint with the police.

Shekhar's complaint is one of the 70 complaints the Hyderabad police have received. Of these, 33 are from the city, from men and pub-goers, who allege they were scammed by women they met on a dating app. A total of Rs 35 lakh was lost to cheating in the last five months, a police official told Deccan Chronicle.
