India, Jan. 23 -- Indian Railways' Trucks-on-Trains (ToT) service is gaining momentum, with operational data indicating rising industry adoption and commercial viability.
According to the Ministry of Railways, the service handled 545 rakes during FY25 (April-December), transporting over three lakh tonnes of freight and generating 36.95 crore in revenue. Since inception, ToT has completed more than 1,955 trips, moved over one million tonnes, and earned over 131 crore.
The service integrates road flexibility with the efficiency of electrified rail infrastructure on the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), allowing loaded trucks to be carried on modified flat wagons for the long haul, with only short first- and last-mile road movements. This ...
