India, Sept. 16 -- Union Minister for Jal Shakti C R Patil launched Swachh Seva Aankalan (SSA) on September 15, 2026, during a virtual meeting with States and Union Territories. Minister of State for Jal Shakti V. Somanna, along with ministers and officials responsible for rural sanitation, also participated in the meeting.

Developed by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen 2.0, SSA is an annual digital self-assessment framework for monitoring sanitation service delivery in rural areas. The framework brings together Gram Panchayats, Gram Sabhas, Village Water and Sanitation Committees, and district and State/UT authorities.
