India, March 13 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the capacity augmentation project of the Numaligarh-Siliguri Product Pipeline (NSPL) of Oil India Limited during a public event in Guwahati on March 13, 2026.

The 654-km cross-country multi-product pipeline, with a diameter of 406 mm (16-inch), was originally designed to handle 1.72 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA). Following the upgrade, its capacity has been enhanced to 5.5 MMTPA to support the expansion of Numaligarh Refinery Limited from 3.0 MMTPA to 9.0 MMTPA under the government's Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for the North-East.
