India, Aug. 6 -- Indian Railways has utilised 1.15 lakh crore, or 39% of its FY27 capital expenditure budget, by July 2026. The spending supports Kavach deployment, track upgrades for higher train speeds, and large-scale railway infrastructure projects to enhance safety and capacity.

Key Highlights 1.15 lakh crore of FY27 capital expenditure utilised by July. Kavach Version 4.0 commissioned on 2,633 route km and installed in 6,290 locomotives. 24,173 km of railway tracks now support 130 kmph or higher speeds. 514 railway infrastructure projects worth 8.31 lakh crore are under implementation.
