India, Jan. 6 -- Indian Railways has recorded its highest-ever production of General and non-AC coaches to meet growing demand for affordable travel, the Ministry of Railways said on Tuesday.
For 2025-26, the national transporter plans to roll out 4,838 new LHB General and non-AC coaches, followed by 4,802 coaches in 2026-27, as part of a sustained fleet modernisation drive.
Fully non-AC Amrit Bharat Express services are expanding, with 13 new trains added in 2025, taking the total to 30. Two Namo Bharat Rapid Rail services are also operational, boosting regional connectivity.
