India, July 20 -- How Indian Cities Save Rainwater Underground The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) teamed up with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) to host a national meeting. They invited leaders from 75 cities. It's all part of the countrywide 'Catch the Rain' campaign. These cities run the Shallow Aquifer Management (SAM) program under AMRUT. They met to share their success in saving rainwater underground.

The SAM program helps cities save water underground. It uses smart planning and direct help. These 75 cities build tools like new wells and small dams to catch rainwater. The tools help rainwater fill up underground water pools. This helps cities fight dry spells and changing weather.
