New Delhi, Aug. 24 -- India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has conducted its maiden flight tests of the Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS), a multi-layered air defence system consisting of indigenous Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM),

Advanced Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missiles, and a high-power laser-based Directed Energy Weapon (DEW). The tests, conducted off the coast of Odisha, have established India's multi-layered air defence capability and will strengthen area defence against enemy aerial threats.

The IADWS is designed to counter a wide spectrum of aerial threats and is being developed by DRDO.
