India, Oct. 8 -- Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said India has expanded its broadband subscriber base from around 60 million to 1 billion in the last decade, describing the growth as a major transformation of the country's digital landscape. He was speaking at the 10th edition of India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026.

Scindia highlighted the affordability of mobile data in India, saying the cost of 1 GB is around Rs 8. He said lower data costs and increased usage have expanded opportunities for Indians to connect, create and innovate, strengthening the country's digital ecosystem.
