New Delhi, Sept. 20 -- India is advancing in semiconductor technology with the production of 2nm chips, marking a significant move towards self-reliance.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated ARM's semiconductor design office in Bengaluru aimed at next-generation 2nm technology, crucial for AI and mobile computing.

The 2nm chips promise enhanced processing capacity, efficiency, and reduced power consumption, with strategic importance in national security and defense. Under the India Semiconductor Mission, total approved projects have reached 10 across states, with an investment of Rs 1.6 lakh crore.
