India, Sept. 11 -- Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expanded the "Trusted Traveller Programme" to five additional airports: Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Calicut, and Amritsar.
This initiative aims to simplify and expedite immigration processes, thereby promoting tourism in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "Speed, Scale and Scope."
The programme, which provides faster clearance for pre-verified travellers using biometric e-gates, reduces airport waiting times from approximately 30 minutes to mere seconds.
