New Delhi, Sept. 18 -- The Indian government is prioritizing the expansion of natural gas in the national energy mix, aiming to exceed 15% through accelerated piped natural gas (PNG) distribution, integrating gas-based power with renewables, and fostering growth in compressed biogas (CBG), hydrogen, and LNG mobility.

Stakeholders highlighted the necessity of industry collaboration, supportive policies, and robust gas infrastructure to achieve these goals, emphasizing natural gas's role as a "bridge fuel" for decarbonization and its contribution to cleaner air and industrial competitiveness. India's significant position as an LNG importer and advancements in city gas distribution networks were also noted.
