New Delhi, Sept. 22 -- In a recent announcement, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated that the Centre will distribute 2.5 million free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) during the Navratri festival.
This initiative will increase the total beneficiaries to 106 million families. Each connection costs the government Rs 2,050, covering a LPG cylinder, stove, regulator, and related equipment.
Puri emphasized that this move honors women's empowerment and health, highlighting Ujjwala's role in making kitchens smoke-free and improving quality of life.
