New Delhi, Dec. 10 -- Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that there are 348 National Highway projects under construction, with most expected to be completed in the current financial year and FY 2026-27.
While some projects may extend to 2027-28, delays are primarily due to cost overruns influenced by increased land compensation, GST, and additional requirements.
The government has established monitoring frameworks and conducts regular reviews to address project progress and resolve issues with stakeholders. Furthermore, all highway constructions comply with established safety and quality standards, with road safety audits conducted prior to public access
