Climate Change Is Also a Crisis of Livelihoods, Power and Justice
India, Oct. 8 -- Climate change is not merely an environmental challenge but also a crisis of livelihoods, access, representation and power, experts said at the launch of Chintan Research Foundation's (CRF) new edited volume, Gendering Climate Futures: Power, Finance, and Justice in a Warming World, in New Delhi.
CRF President Shishir Priyadarshi highlighted the disproportionate impact of climate change on women, including disruptions to livelihoods and education. He emphasised the importance of land ownership in improving women's access to credit and climate-resilient investments, calling for gender to move from the periphery to the centre of climate policy and shape approaches to vulnerability, adaptation and justice.
