India, Oct. 2 -- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the establishment of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) to address the educational needs of Central Government employees' wards, with an estimated financial requirement of Rs. 5862.55 crore over nine years.

These KVs will include Balvatikas for foundational education as part of NEP 2020, indicating a shift towards inclusive and strategic education expansion. Currently, there are 1288 KVs, with the new proposals particularly focusing on underserved regions, including Aspirational and LWE districts.
