India, Oct. 2 -- The Union Cabinet of India approved the "Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses" with a financial outlay of Rs 11,440 crore to boost domestic pulse production and achieve self-reliance.
The initiative, slated for implementation from 2025-26 to 2030-31, aims to aid approximately 2 crore farmers through improved seed supply, post-harvest infrastructure, and guaranteed procurement at Minimum Support Prices.
With increasing demand and limited domestic production, the mission plans to distribute 126 lakh quintals of certified seeds and expand pulse cultivation across 310 lakh hectares.
