India, Sept. 4 -- A family dispute took a tragic turn after a 19-year-old youth allegedly strangled his mother to death in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district.

The incident occurred at Barajpur village under Baripada Sadar police limits last night.

The deceased has been identified as Srimati Singh of the village. The police have arrested accused Kuinia Singh and launched an investigation into the incident.

According to police, Srimati's husband had died earlier and the couple had four sons and two daughters. She had married off her two daughters a few years ago.

Srimati and her four sons used to work in Chennai. Recently, she and her second son Kuinia had returned to their native village.
