Woman trader attacked, robbed of Rs 36 lakh in Odisha's Kataka
India, July 13 -- A woman gold trader was allegedly attacked by a gang of six armed miscreants and robbed of Rs 36 lakh in cash on National Highway 16 in Odisha's Kataka city on Sunday night.
The incident took place between 10 pm and 10.30 pm on the Taladanda Canal bridge while Pinky Gupta, accompanied by an employee of a jewellery shop, was travelling on a scooter to a bus stop near OMP Square. She was scheduled to board a bus to Kolkata at around 10.30 pm to purchase gold ornaments.
According to the complaint, six miscreants intercepted their scooter on the bridge and launched a sudden attack. When Gupta resisted, the robbers allegedly threatened her with sharp weapons and assaulted her with an iron rod before snatching a bag contain...
