India, Sept. 3 -- An unusual action by the Excise Department in Odisha's Sundaragada district has triggered controversy after officials allegedly detained a woman along with her two-year-old son during a raid conducted at her house in connection with an alleged illegal liquor trade case registered against her husband.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 7 a.m. on Thursday at Baladmal village under Sundaragada Sadar police limits. A team of the Sundaragada Sadar Excise Department, led by Excise Officer Phula Sahu, conducted a raid at the house of Karan Nayak following allegations that he was involved in the illegal sale of liquor.

However, the excise team reportedly did not recover any liquor from the house during the raid.
