India, Aug. 28 -- Councillors of Soro Municipality in Odisha's Baleshwar district have opened a fast-food stall in front of the municipal office gate, protesting against the delay in streetlight repairs.

Several wards of Soro town have reportedly remained without functioning streetlights for more than two years. Councillors alleged that despite repeated complaints and protests, the agency responsible for maintaining the lights has failed to carry out repairs. They also alleged that no action has been taken against the agency.

As part of their protest, councillors, led by Ward 12 councillor Rajendra Mohanty, set up the fast-food stall and announced that the money earned from it would be used to repair the defunct streetlights.
