India, Oct. 22 -- The body of a minor girl who had been missing for five days was recovered from a forest in Bartana Gram Panchayat under Jaleswar police station limits in Odisha's Balasore district.

Police have arrested the prime accused, identified as Chandrakanta Jena, in connection with the suspected rape and murder of the girl.

The accused reportedly confessed to killing the girl during the investigation. The recovery of the body sparked tension in the area as angry locals vandalised the accused's house.

Police have started an investigation into the matter
