India, March 11 -- A Class VII student allegedly died by suicide after facing severe harassment at his school in the Narsinghpur area of Odisha's Cuttack district. The boy's family has lodged a complaint at Narsinghpur police station, accusing members of the school committee of subjecting him to mental torture.

The deceased has been identified as Debashish Das, a 15-year-old student of Shankarsan High School at Patanda. He was the son of Babul Das from Neelakanthpur village.
