India, July 24 -- The Commissionerate Police in the Odisha capital here today registered a case against a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) corporator on charges of sexual exploitation of a 19-year-old girl on false assurance of marriage.The Laxmisagar police booked BJD corporator Amaresh Jena under Sections 64(2)(m), 89, 296 and 351(2) of BNS and Section 6 of POCSO Act on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim.
As per the complaint, the BJD corporator had came in contact with the girl during a social event in June, 2023.
He reportedly gifted a mobile phone to the girl, who was then a minor. Later, the BJD corporator developed a relationship with the victim.
