India, March 12 -- At least 1,025 people have lost their lives, and 1,594 others have been injured in 1,616 road accidents across Odisha so far in 2026, the State Assembly was informed on Thursday.

Replying to a question by MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena said the accidents occurred on different categories of roads across the state.

According to the minister, 447 accidents were reported on National Highways, resulting in 270 deaths and injuries to 469 people.

On State Highways, 246 accidents were recorded in which 150 persons died, and 259 others sustained injuries.
