India, Oct. 9 -- VEON Ltd. (VEON) announced on Friday that its Banglalink unit has launched a satellite-to-mobile service powered by Starlink, making Bangladesh the first country in South Asia to introduce the technology.
The service allows customers to access apps and location services beyond the reach of conventional mobile networks, using a 4G phone and Banglalink SIM. It is available through Banglalink's MyBL app and will soon be offered on its RYZE app.
VEON said the service is designed to keep users connected during emergencies, natural disasters and power outages.
