India, Sept. 30 -- Vanda Pharmaceuticals Inc. (VNDA) announced positive topline results from its pivotal Phase 3 study of HETLIOZ (tasimelteon) in adults with Delayed Sleep-Wake Phase Disorder, a circadian rhythm disorder that causes people to fall asleep and wake much later than desired.
Delayed Sleep-Wake Phase Disorder (DSWPD), is more than simply being a "night owl." People with the disorder often cannot fall asleep until the early morning hours and may struggle to wake up for work, school, or other daily activities. The condition affects an estimated 0.2% to 1.5% of adults in the United States.
