U.S. Stocks Recover From Early Weakness, Dow Moves Sharply Higher

India, Oct. 15 -- After coming under pressure early in the session, stocks have regained ground over the course of the trading day on Thursday. The major averages have climbed well off their lows of the session, with the S&P 500 joining the narrower Dow in positive territory.

Currently, the Dow is up 508.68 points or 1 percent at 52,130.16 amid strong gains by Nike (NKE), Salesforce (CRM) and UnitedHealth (UNH).

The S&P 500 is also up 5.92 points or 0.1 percent at 7,724.86, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq is well off its worst levels but still down 104.13 points or 0.4 percent at 26,588.74.
