India, April 8 -- Cryptocurrencies jumped in the past 24 hours in tandem with the positive sentiment in global markets buoyed by the two-week ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran announced by President Donald Trump. Overall cryptocurrency market capitalization has gained more than 4 percent in the past 24 hours. Bitcoin touched a 24-hour high of $72,732.

The de-escalation in the geopolitical tensions just before the deadline set by President Trump triggered a risk-on sentiment. Crude oil prices plunged and the Dollar retreated while precious metals, stocks and risk assets rallied.
