India, Sept. 16 -- A report released by the Commerce Department on Wednesday showed business inventories in the U.S. increased by much more than expected in the month of July.

The Commerce Department said business inventories climbed by 0.8 percent in July following a revised 0.1 percent uptick in June.

Economists had expected business inventories to rise by 0.3 percent compared to the unchanged reading originally reported for the previous month.
