India, July 9 -- In a bid to address addiction, overdose, and mental illness while promoting recovery, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has announced more than $281 million in funding opportunities.
The funding will support 15 programs, with the largest allocation of $68.2 million dedicated to Medication-Assisted Treatment for Prescription Drug and Opioid Addiction, a program that helps expand access to treatment for opioid use disorder.
The grant has come at a time when the number of drug overdose deaths is declining. As many as 69,973 people lost their lives as a result of drug overdose in the country in 2025, compared with 81,313 deaths a year earlier, according to the provisional data from the U.S...
