India, Sept. 27 -- PepsiCo (PEP) is preparing a major expansion in Colombia, with plans to invest $1 billion across the country over the next five years. The initiative is expected to strengthen the food and beverage company's local presence through investments in manufacturing, logistics and operational infrastructure, according to a statement shared by Colombian President De La Espriella on social media.
The investment is expected to have a broader impact on Colombia's agricultural and retail sectors. Thousands of farmers linked to PepsiCo's supply chain could benefit from increased demand, while independent retailers and neighborhood stores may gain from an expanded distribution network.
