India, Aug. 31 -- Oil prices were sharply higher on Monday as an escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran raised fears of supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz.

Brent crude futures jumped 3.5 percent to $91.21 a barrel, while WTI crude futures were up 3.4 percent at $86.28 a barrel.

Iran launched attacks with explosive drones on American forces stationed in Jordan after U.S. forces targeted two Iranian launchers on Larak Island.
