India, Oct. 1 -- Novo Nordisk A/S (NVO), a pharmaceutical company, on Thursday released results of a post hoc analysis of a sub-population in the STEP UP trials showing Wegovy's success in reducing liver fat in non-diabetic, obese adults. The data was presented at the 2026 Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD).
Wegovy consists of an injectable semaglutide formulation that acts as a GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics the GLP-1 hormone to regulate blood sugar and bring about weight loss. The drug was approved in December 2025 and has been under study in several clinical programs for cardiometabolic diseases, type 2 diabetes, obesity, chronic kidney disease, and liver disorders.
