India, Sept. 1 -- Medical devices maker Medtronic plc (2M6.DE, MDT) reported Tuesday that net profit for the first quarter grew from last year, driven by improved margins and double-digit net sales growth across all four operating businesses. The company also raised its guidance for the full-year 2027 as results came in ahead of the company's guidance.
For the first quarter, the company reported net income attributable to Medtronic of $1.47 billion or $1.14 per share, up from $1.04 billion or $0.81 per share in the prior-year quarter.
Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter was $1.45 per share, compared to $1.26 per share in the year-ago quarter.
