India, Aug. 24 -- Lakefront Biotherapeutics NV (LKFT), on Monday announced that the U.S. FDA has granted Orphan Drug Designation to Gamgertamig for the treatment of Pemphigus.
Pemphigus is a rare autoimmune blistering disorder affecting the skin and mucous membranes. In the U.S., its prevalence is estimated at approximately 5.2 cases per 100,000 adults (0.005%), with prevalence increasing with age. Although there is no cure, treatment options include corticosteroids, immunosuppressants and biologic therapies such as rituximab, while IVIG and plasmapheresis may be used in selected severe cases.
