India, July 15 -- The Indonesia stock market has finished higher in five straight sessions, advancing more than 160 points or 2.7 percent in that span. The Jakarta Composite Index now rests just above the 6,040-point plateau and it's likely to open higher again on Thursday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets is cautiously optimistic on an improved outlook for interest rates. The European markets were mixed and the U.S. bourses were up and the Asian markets figure to split the difference.
