India, May 27 -- The Hong Kong stock market has finished lower in back-to-back sessions, slumping almost 280 points or 1.1 percent in that span. The Hang Seng Index now sits just beneath the 25,330-point plateau although it may stop the bleeding on Thursday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets is cautiously optimistic, thanks mostly to easing oil prices. The European markets were mixed and little changed and the U.S. bourses were slightly higher and the Asian markets figure to split the difference.
