India, Aug. 19 -- Hong Kong's unemployment rate increased in the May-July period, labor force statistics from the Census and Statistics Department showed on Tuesday.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 3.7 percent in May-July, up from 3.5 percent in the April-June period.

The data showed that the underemployment rate remained steady at 1.4 percent.

On an unadjusted basis, the unemployment rate also rose to 3.8 percent from 3.6 percent.

The number of unemployed individuals was 145,800, compared to 136,200 in the April-June period.
