India, Aug. 18 -- Georgia cannabis regulators are considering allowing licensed medical cannabis dispensaries to ship products directly to registered patients within the state, following the federal reclassification of compliant medical marijuana as a Schedule 3 drug.

The Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis Commission is expected to consider the proposal at a public hearing on September 16. Executive Director Andrew Turnage said regulators believe the federal rescheduling could provide a legal pathway for licensed dispensaries to send medical cannabis to patients through the U.S. Postal Service or private carriers.
