India, Oct. 29 -- The U.K. stock market's benchmark index FTSE 100 gained modest ground in positive territory Thursday morning, with investors largely reacting to corporate earnings announcements, while continuing to closely track geopolitical developments.

After the Federal Reserve's decision to leave interest rate unchanged on Wednesday, the European Central Bank is widely expected to hold rates today.

The FTSE 100, which climbed to 10,759.02, was up 37.45 points or 0.35% at 10,731.95 a few minutes before noon.
